Evergreen Reads is a community-wide event sponsored jointly by District 124. The goal of Evergreen Reads is to bring voices across the entire district together to learn from, and about one another in a fun and unique way. The novel the Evergreen Reads planning committee has selected for its 7th year is "J.D. and the Great Barber Battle" by J. Dillard. Eight-year-old J.D. takes matters into his own hands after a disastrous home trim. J.D. takes matters into his own hand and fixes his cut. He starts taking on clients (his friends) and learns he has a knack for cutting hair.  He turns his talent into a booming business and faces off against the town's grumpy barber in a hilarious haircut showdown! It's perfect for young readers who love underdog stories and a good laugh.
