Kindergarten through third-grade students from two District schools performed winter shows this holiday season.
Southeast performed the musical "Elflandia," which tells the story of Santa's helpers who live in Elflandia. The show shared the story of elves who make toys all year round but had never seen a human. In the play, Santa arrives in Elflandia and tells the elves how humans can be kind and loving to one another. The show was directed by Samantha Eberhardt.
Northeast performed "All Aboard the Holiday Express,” which featured a collection of songs that celebrate winter traditions from around the world. There were songs in the show about Hanukkah, songs from Latin countries and how they celebrate Christmas, songs about Three Kings Day, songs about Christmas in America, and even fun songs about winter and December.
“We chose this program because it was inclusive of different holiday traditions around the world,” Director Maritza Rivera said.
