Online shoppers can now support Evergreen Park School District 124, at NO EXTRA COST, by making purchases through AmazonSmile.
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5 percent of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.
To support EPSD 124, simply log on to smile.amazon.com and select “Evergreen Park School District 124 Foundation” as your charitable organization.
The Evergreen Park School District 124 Foundation is a nonprofit, volunteer organization made up of the District's friends and supporters. The Foundation raises and distribute charitable contributions from a variety of sources to enhance the educational experience of the District’s students.
Currently, the Foundation is in the process of collecting grant requests from District employees. Those requests will be screened and voted on by the Foundation Board, and funds will be awarded to the requests that the Board feels will make the biggest impact.
“We are excited to see what applications we receive,” board member Leo Cassidy said.
Previously, the Foundation has supported the District in the following ways:
- Purchased interactive whiteboards and iPad devices for more than 20 District classrooms
- Supported the District’s Primary Academic and Life Skills program
- Ensured that each of the five District schools owns and utilizes a state-of-the art sound system for school events and assemblies
- Purchased or repaired musical instruments for students who could not afford them
- Supported summer enrichment programs for all district students
- Launched an after-school arts program for students at Northeast Elementary School
- Supported the newly established music/ukulele program for all D124 eighth graders
- Supported access to flip-style in-room Emergency Guides to every district classroom
- Approved funding to upgrade the District’s online literacy tool
- Helped purchase new basketball nets for District schools
