Students use lemonade to help hurricane victims

Students from two District 124 schools recently opened lemonade stands to raise money for hurricane victims.

Fourth grade students from Southwest School raised more than $600 for the Hurricane Relief Fund by running a lemonade stand on a Sunday afternoon.

The group of girls got the idea to open the stand after reading the book “Lemonade Wars” in their book club.

Southwest Principal Mrs. Patricia Bogdan said she was extremely proud of the students.

“They did a great job!” Bogdan said. “These girls continue to exhibit teamwork skills at school and on the weekends.”

A group of Northwest students raised more than $200 in a similar fashion, selling lemonade and cookies for 50 cents each.

All of the funds raised will go directly to hurricane victims.
