The team from DLA Architects who have been working with D124 on engaging with the community about challenges with facilities and space shared their findings and recommendations with the board.
The assessment of current facilities aimed to identify possible operations and maintenance projects as well as potential capital improvements projects and creating a 10-year long range plan for facilities. The assessment found a few common issues throughout the buildings and identified some systems and areas that will need replacement in the coming years.

September 10, 2024 Presentation
In an additional presentation during a special meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10, DLA Architects shared again on the facility and space needs in the district and presented potential options for the district to consider to address these challenges:
- Option 1 - Additions and Renovations at Central
- Option 1A - Cafeteria/Music/Classroom addition at Central + Music/Art/Classroom additions at Elementary Schools
- Option 1B - Cafeteria/Music/Classroom addition at Central + New Early Learning Center, PreK and K classrooms are renovated to become Music Art, and additional student space.
- Option 1C - Cafeteria/Music/Classroom addition at Central + Fifth grade addition at Central. Fifth Grade Classrooms are renovated to become music and Art
- Option 2 - New Central Middle School
- Option 2A - New Middle School + Music/Art/Classroom additions at all elementary school
- Option 2B - New Middle School + New Early Learning Center, PreK and K classrooms are renovated to become music, art and additional student space.
- Option 2C - New Middle School + Fifth Grade addition at Central. Fifth grade classrooms are renovated to become music and art
The district will continue research these options and begin engaging with the community on next steps.
