A 22-year veteran of Evergreen Park School District 124 has been hired as the next principal of Northeast School.

Carrie Berry – who served as the assistant principal of Northeast and Northwest School this year, following 21 years at a classroom teacher at Southwest School – was officially approved as NE’s next principal during a Wednesday, May 20, Board of Education meeting. She will take over as principal on July 1, 2020, replacing outgoing principal Jacquelyn Janicke.

D124 Superintendent Dr. Robert Machak said Berry’s previous experiences have prepared her well for the principalship at Northeast.

“Through our ongoing work on administrative council since July, Mrs. Berry's commitment to the District 124 vision and strategic plan has been unwavering,” he said. “Mrs. Berry understands the needs of the Northeast School community and has built solid positive relationships with the students, staff, and families there. With so many uncertainties about what our schools will look like next fall, it will be reassuring to have someone as familiar with Northeast and the district as Mrs. Berry is leading the way."

In her time with D14, Berry has also served as the Southwest School educational assistant, as a district curriculum coach, and as a co-chairwoman of the district's curriculum review committee. Berry said she is very excited about the opportunity to lead the staff, students, and parents at Northeast School as the new building principal.

“It will be a great transition coming from the assistant principal role because I have seen what great things are in place,” Berry said. “I plan to build on those great systems, as well as build character, increase student achievement, encourage creativity, and build confidence. Most importantly I hope to inspire all of our stakeholders to make Northeast the best school it can be."

 

 

Una veterana del Distrito Escolar 124 de Evergreen Park por 22 años, ha sido contratada para ser la próxima directora de la Escuela Northeast.

Carrie Berry – quien este año ha servido como Subdirectora de las escuelas Northeast y  Northwest, después de ser maestra en la Escuela School por 21 años – fue aprobada oficialmente como directora de NE, durante la junta del Consejo Escolar del 20 de mayo. Ella tomará su puesto como directora el 1º de julio de 2020 para ocupar el lugar de la directora saliente Jacquelyn Janicke. 

El Superintendente del D124 Dr. Robert Machak dijo que la experiencias previas de Berry la han preparado bien para la Dirección de Northeast.

“A través de nuestro continuo trabajo en el consejo administrativo desde julio, el compromiso de la Sra. Berry a la visión y al plan estratégico del Distrito 124 ha sido inquebrantable,” él dijo. “La Sra. Berry entiende las necesidades de la comunidad en la Escuela Northeast y ha creado sólidas, positivas relaciones con los alumnos, el personal y las familias. Con tanta incertidumbre sobre cómo se verán nuestras escuelas en el otoño, es reconfortante tener a alguien que está familiarizada con Northeast y el distrito como lo es la Sra. Berry.”  

Durante su tiempo en el D124, Berry también ha servido como asistente educativa, coach del currículo del distrito, así como la co- presidenta del comité de currículo del distrito. Berry dijo que está muy emocionada sobre la oportunidad de guiar al personal, a los alumnos y a los padres de familia de la Escuela Northeast como su nueva directora.

“Será una fabulosa transición viniendo del puesto de subdirectora ya que he podido ver las geniales cosas que suceden ahí,” Berry dijo.” Planeo seguir trabajando en esos grandiosos sistemas, así como crear carácter, aumentar los logros de los estudiantes, alentar su creatividad, y aumentar su confianza. Lo más importante, espero inspirar a todos nuestros participantes a hacer de Northeast la mejor escuela que pueda ser.”
