D124 welcomes new staff for 2019-2020 school year

Leslie Ashley
School: Central Middle School
Position: 8th Grade Science Teacher
Ashley comes to District 124 from Midlothian School District 143 in Crestwood, where she worked as a seventh and eighth-grade science teacher since 2011. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from Eastern Illinois University and received her Illinois Teaching Certificate from Trinity Christian College.

Shavon Brewer
School: Northwest
Position: 5th Grade Teacher
Shavon worked as a Response to Intervention Specialist and 6th Grade Honors Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher in Bolingbrook’s Valley View Public Schools prior to coming to D124. She has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Chicago State University and a master’s in special Education from Concordia University Chicago.

Melissa Byrd
School:
Central Middle School
Position: Special Education Teacher
Melissa has worked as a special education teacher in both Oak Lawn Hometown School District 123 and Cook County School District 130. She has a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Graphic Design from Columbia College and a master’s degree in Special Education from St. Xavier.

Kristen Campbell
School: District
Position: Nurse
Kristen most recently worked as a Registered Nurse for Southwest Pediatrics in Palos Park. She previously served as a Childcare Assistant for an Indiana-based Early Childhood Education program in Indiana. Kristen holds a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Valparaiso.

Julie Ann Capuano
School: Central Middle School
Position: 6th Grade Social Studies
Julie Ann comes to District 124 with more than 20 years of teaching experience, and was a Golden Apple Teacher nominee last year. She has taught various grade levels within Chicago Public Schools. Julie Ann has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from UIC and a master’s in Administration from National Louis University.

Dimetra Chiganos
School: Central Middle School
Position: Math Teacher
Debbie joins the D124 team after serving as a K-5 Math Interventionist in Riverside School District 96  and as an Advanced Mathematics Learning Facilitator in Butler School District 53. She holds a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Governors State University.

Juliette Clark
School: Southeast School
Position: Paraprofessional
Prior to coming to D124, Juliette worked as an Assistant Resource Coordinator for Youth Guidance -- an organization that creates and implements school-based programs that enable children to succeed in school and in life. She holds a bachelor's degree in Recreation Management from the University of Illinois.

Kelsey Conrad
School: Central Middle School
Position: 6th Grade Science
Kelsey comes to District 124 from the other Central Middle School -- District 146’s Central Middle School in Tinley Park -- where she worked as a Science teacher last year. Kelsey has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Amal Daradi
School: Central Middle School
Position: Bilingual/ESL Teacher
Amal has worked for a variety of schools and districts as a Spanish and ESL Teacher. Most recently, she worked as a Middle School ESL/Bilingual Teacher in Arbor Park School District 145. Amal has a bachelor's degree in education from Trinity Chrisitan College and is working toward a master’s degree in education.

Marquis Dreyer
School: Northwest School
Position: Speech-Language Pathologist Paraprofessional
Marquis comes to D124 with a wide-variety of professional experiences. Last year, she worked as a paraprofessional in Willow Springs School District 108. Marquis has a degree in Business Administration from Morris Brown College in Atlanta.

Julie Field
School: Southeast School
Position: Social Worker
Julie joins the D124 team after working as a social worker in Pleasantdale School District 107, and in Bensenville School District 2. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Iowa, and a master’s degree in Social Work from UIC.

Katelyn Gaeta
School: Northwest School
Position: Paraprofessional
Katelyn has worked as a child care teacher/coordinator and camp counselor prior to joining D124. She holds an associates degree in Child Care from Moraine Valley Community College.

Lauren Kaufman
School: Northwest School
Position: 5th Grade Co-Taught Teacher
Lauren comes to District 124 from Massachusetts, where she has worked as a first and fifth-grade special education teacher. Lauren has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Boston University, and a master’s degree in Literacy from K-8 Classroom Teachers from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. 

Tiffany Knight
School: Southeast School
Position: 3rd Grade Teacher
Tiffany joins D124 after most recently working as a kindergarten teacher in Sunnybrook School District 171. She previously worked as a summer camp counselor in Evergreen Park. Tiffany earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Malone University in Ohio.

Christina Lavin
School: Central Middle School
Position: Health Teacher
Christina worked as a Physical Education Teacher in New Lenox School District 122 prior to joining the D124 family. She has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Western Illinois University, and advanced degrees in Curriculum and Development, and Educational Administration, from Governors State University.

Raina Little
School: Southeast School
Position: Paraprofessional
Raina comes to District 124 with a wide variety of professional experiences. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Education from South Suburban College and has accumulated credit hours toward a Physical Education degree at Chicago State University.

Ann Magdziasz
School: Central Middle School
Position: Technology Teacher
Ann worked as an Instructional Technology Integration Specialist for Country Club Hills School District 160 prior to coming to D124. She has previously worked as a Technology and Computers Teacher. Ann has a bachelor's degree in Business Education from Trinity Chrisitan College and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in River Forest.

Vicki Meza
School: Southeast School
Position: Bilingual Paraprofessional
Vicki served as a Special Education Paraprofessional and a Special Education Job Coach in Oak Lawn before being hired in District 124. She has also worked as a lead teacher at a childcare center.

Shannon Mills
School: Central Middle School
Position: 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Shannon worked as a Long-Term AP European History at Benet Academy last year. She graduated from Indiana University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Education. While attending Indiana University, she served as president of her sorority, Kappa Delta.

Jessica Mittermann
School: Central Middle School
Position: 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher
Jessica returns to District 124 after previously working as a English Language Arts teachers at CMS. She has a bachelor's degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Urban Setting from National Louis University.

Maura Raleigh
School: Central Middle School
Position: Innovative Design Challenge
Maura comes to D124 from Forest Park School District 91, where she led the middle school STEM curriculum as an iDiscover teacher. She previously worked as a teacher in Chicago and Western Springs. Maura earned a bachelor's degree in Education from Illinois State University.

Jeanelle Rhein
School: Central Middle School
Position: 7th Grade Science Teacher
Jeanelle is an experienced teacher who has spent the past seven years teaching both science and social studies in Dolton Riverdale School District 148. She previously worked as a science teacher in Calumet Park and Lyons. Jeanelle holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College.

Daniel Richmond
School: Central Middle School
Position: Assistant Principal
Daniel joins the D124 team as one of two new assistant principals at CMS. He most recently served as the MTSS Coordinator in West Harvey-Dixmoor School District 147. Daniel has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from North Park University, and master’s degrees in both School Counseling and Educational Leadership.

Martha Robinson
School: Central Middle School
Position: Special Education Teacher
Martha has most recently served as a special education teacher at Downers Grove North and Oak Park and River Forest High Schools. She has also worked in Chicago Public Schools. Martha has a bachelor's degree Health, Physical Education and Recreation from UIC, and master’s degrees in both Administration and Supervision and Administration.

Brianna Schultz
School: Kindergarten Teacher
Position: Southwest School
Brianna graduated from the University of Illinois in May with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She completed her student teaching at Broadmeadow Elementary School in Rantoul. In college, she served as vice president of U of I’s Club Softball team.

Kimberly Tallungan
School: District
Position: Elementary Band Director
Kimberly fills a new position in D124 as the District’s first Elementary Band Director. She comes to Evergreen Park from Homewood School District 153, where she also served as Band Director. Kimberly holds both a bachelor's and master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois.

Rachel Walby
School: Central Middle School
Position: 6th Grade Math Teacher
Rachel graduated from Trinity Christian College in May with a bachelor’s degree in Math Education. She completed her student teaching at both CMS and at Bremen High School in Midlothian. Rachel has previously worked as a private tutor.
