Become a Substitute Teacher in District 124
How to Get Your Substitute License
- Step 1: Log in to the Educator Licensure Information System at www.isbe.net/ELIS
- Step 2: From the Action Center, select “apply for a substitute or short-term substitute license”
- Step 3: Complete application and pay application fee (reimbursable).
*Note: The Illinois State Board of Education will reimburse your application fee once you substitute for 10 or more days after receiving your license. Ask your Regional Office of Education or Intermediate Service Center for more details once you receive employment.
- Step 4: Schedule an appointment with South Cook Intermediate Service Center by calling (708) 754-6600 or visit the South Cook Intermediate Service Center, 253 West Joe Orr Road, Chicago Heights, Illinois 60411 to submit your official transcripts or submit the transcripts to transcripts@isbe.net.
- Step 5: The Illinois State Board of Education will issue your license automatically once your transcript is verified
- Step 6: Register your license in ELIS. You now have a license valid for employment!
Once you have all the required forms including the Authorization Certification from South Cook Intermediate Service Center, you must apply online. Your authorization certification from South Cook Intermediate Service Center must be uploaded in the application process before consideration for an interview.
