Southwest School teacher Colleen Cushing was awarded a grant that allowed he to purchase flexible seating for her classroom, which aims to enhance student learning.

Grant paid for buses that allowed Central Middle School students to travel to Chicago and leave cold-weather warming for the homeless.

After becoming a “Wonder Certified Kind Classroom" students in Lori Lurquin’s third-grade class at Southeast School had the opportunity to see a special sneak peek of the movie “Wonder” before it was released in theaters.

This grant brought author/illustrator Marty Kelley to District, where he visited each school to talk to the students about the process of writing and illustrating books. He also spoke at the Southeast School Family Reading Night.
