Coronavirus

Please be aware that Evergreen Park School District 124 is currently monitoring the news and advisories concerning the coronavirus illness.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent the coronavirus. As with any respiratory virus, students, families, and school personnel can protect themselves by taking everyday actions. We recommend that you take a moment to reinforce with your family the following preventive actions that will help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:

  • Cover your cough or sneeze
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • See your doctor if you have a fever, cough, body aches, and fatigue
  • If you or a family member is sick, stay home and limit contact with others

The Illinois Department of Health has also released an update on the preventative measures they recommend to limit the spread of coronavirus.

District 124 will continue to implement and be diligent with all of our cleaning practices throughout our buildings. Classrooms will be cleaned and sanitized, and staff members are reminded to promote universal precautions among students, including frequent hand washing.

At this point the Illinois Department of Public Health does not recommend cancelling classes or after-school activities, or the use of masks or gloves.

Please know that our students’ and staff members' health and safety is, and always has been, our highest priority.
