Assistant Director of Student Support Services Recognized by ISBE

When the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced the winners of the Those Who Excel Awards and Teacher of the Year, D124 was excited, but not surprised to see a familiar name among those recognized.

Assistant Director of Student Support Services Megan Locke was awarded the Award of Excellence in the School Administrator category for her incredible dedication to the students of Evergreen Park.

The Award of Excellence is the most prestigious of the Those Who Excel honors and requires educators to have demonstrated a commitment to equity and to the success of all students. According to ISBE, these educators regularly collaborate with colleagues, students, and families to create positive school cultures and are lifelong learners who connect their schools to the community at large and who inspire other education professionals within and beyond their schools.

“Megan is an outstanding educational leader whose passion, knowledge, and dedication have left a significant mark on our district,” said Director of Student Support Services Rebecca Tyrrell. “Rather than simply directing, Megan jumps in, models strategies, and works side-by-side with staff so they feel supported and confident in implementing new practices. She consistently leads by example, making herself available not only to teachers but also to fellow administrators who rely on her insight and support.”

Everyone at D124 is so proud of this achievement and will continue to celebrate Megan and everything she does to make an impact for our students and community!
