Meet The Board

Terry
MacDonald, Vice President:
Terry MacDonald joined the
School Board in 2001 and has been Vice President since 2005. As a third
term Board Member, Terry is looking forward to working with fellow Board
Members, Staff, Administration and Dr. Cody on the many challenges that
face the District.
Terry, a System Consultant for
HP Products Corporation, a leading Midwest
facility supply distributor, was recognized as the 2008 System Consultant
for the Year. He has a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Business Administration from St. Xavier University.
During the baseball season, Terry assists the
Evergreen Park Basketball Commission and is also a member of the United
Homeowners Associations.

Joan Boss,
Secretary:
Joan Boss has been a Member of
the Board of Education since 1997, serving as Secretary for the Board since
2003. She received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Education and currently teaches fifth grade in a neighboring
school district.
Joan is involved on several
church committees and has been an active PTA member for the past several
years. During the 2008-2009 school
year, Joan was PTA council treasurer for Evergreen Park High
School. Additionally, Joan is a member of the
high school scholarship board.
Joan’s experience in education
often helps her convey background information on educational issues to her
fellow Board Members.

Kathleen
Rohan:
Kathy Rohan has served on the
Board of Education since 2007. Kathy
graduated from Arizona State University
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and earned a Masters of
Arts degree in Community and Organizational Development from Loyola University.
Kathy currently works part-time
at a local hospital in an administrative support position. She has been an active PTA member for
over 8 years holding an officer position for two years. She was the co-founder of SERVE (a
resource group for parent of children with learning differences) and
continues to serve on the Board. In
addition, Kathy has been a Girl Scout Leader for several years.
Kathy’s work experience in
Office Management, long standing roots in the community, and special
interest in students with disabilities, help her contribute as a Board
Member.

Beth Amado:
Beth
Amado was elected to the Board in 2009.
She currently works as a computer consultant and project manager for
IBM. Beth, who received her degree
in Mathematics from Saint Xavier
University, also has minors in
Education, Computer Science and Business Administration. She holds a teaching degree in
Mathematics with additional endorsements in Computers and Business.
As an active volunteer,
Beth serves as a parent representative on her child’s daycare facility board
and helps coordinate one of the main fundraising programs in her
parish. Beth has researched and is
active in safeguarding the community and children from developmental
influences that put many children at risk.
Beth possesses a passion for a
quality public education for the families of the Evergreen
Park community.

Robert McDonald:
Bob McDonald, Certified Public
Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master
of Science degree in Taxation. Bob works
as a Managing Director in a national tax consulting firm.
As a Member of
the Board of Education beginning in 2009, Bob believes that his significant
experience in budgeting/managing finances, as well as recruiting, training
and developing people will be an asset while serving on the Board of
Education.
Bob serves on
the Board of Directors of Christopher House, a multi-site organization,
whose mission is to help educate children and provide a full range of
services to help families thrive.

John
Kennedy:
John
Kennedy joined the Board of Education in 2009. He has worked as a probation officer for
the past 20 years.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal
Arts from UIC and a Master’s Degree in History form Chicago State where he received his teacher
certification. John has worked as a
freelance writer for ACT and a part-time essay reader for Pearson.
As a volunteer for the
Evergreen Park Recreation Department, John coaches soccer and basketball
for the Evergreen Park Athletic Association. John is currently a member of
the St. Bernadette Holy Name Society.

Tom Schergen,
Member
Members of the Board of Education took action on January 5, 2011 to appoint
Tom Schergen to fill the Board vacancy that was vacated by Jim Flanagan on
November 29, 2010. Tom realizes the importance and sacrifice required to
serve on the Board of Education and is looking forward to the opportunity.
Tom received his Bachelors degree in Elementary & Special Education from
Illinois State University and earned his Masters degree in Educational
Administration from St. Xavier University. Tom began his career as a
special education teacher at Bremen High School in Midlothian and is
currently employed as the athletic director at Marist High School.
